PEACE GALA AND AWARDS

The Peace Gala and Awards are a Peace Exhibition and Ideas exchange platform for thought leaders and innovators in the fields of Peace, Security, and Humanitarian work. At its climax, the gala features a premier awards event that celebrates grassroots, national, and international actors with outstanding achievements and contributions to the fields of Peace, Security, and Humanitarian work. KATWE SKILLS CENTRE

KATWE SKILLS CENTRE

Katwe Skills Centre is Uganda Muslim Youth Development Forum’s flagship Vocational and Business Skilling Initiative for at-risk and vulnerable youth drawn from Kampala’s slum communities. The centre seeks to provide them with positive livelihood development opportunities and address poverty among slum youth at risk of joining violent criminal gangs.
Now in its 5th year of operation, Katwe Skills Centre has so far skilled and mentored over 650 youth in marketable trades of Hair dressing and Barbering, Electrical Wiring and Installation, Fashion and Design, Photography and Videography, Art and Crafts, and Phone Repair.
PEACE LEARNING CENTRE

PEACE LEARNING CENTRE

The Peace Learning Centre provides foundational and specialised training in topical issues in the fields of Peacebuilding, Conflict Management and Transformation, Prevention of Violent Extremism, Countering of Violent Extremism, and Islam, Justice, Peace and Security. The centre’s training programmes usually take 3 days - 4 weeks, and are delivered by leading subject experts across a wide range of peace and security related specialisations. All classes are highly interactive, experiential, and learner-centered.

YOUTH INTERFAITH PEACE GARDENS AND SPORTS HUBS

YOUTH INTERFAITH PEACE GARDENS AND SPORTS HUBS

Planted by youth from over 7 religious sects and serving over 100,000 youth across the districts of Bugiri and Mayuge, the Youth Interfaith Peace Gardens and Sports Hubs are a living monument to the ideals of Interfaith Cooperation and friendship. They are challenging religiously biased narratives used to fuel youth recruitment into violent extremist activities.

                                                                                                
HIGH SCHOOL PEACE CLUBS

HIGH SCHOOL PEACE CLUBS

Through the flagship Peace Education Initiative, Uganda Muslim Youth Development Forum (UMYDF) has reached over 20,700 youth in several public and private schools in Central Uganda and West Nile through establishing peace clubs where it introduces both teachers and students to key skills in peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and participatory action research.



COMMUNITY PEACE CLUBS

COMMUNITY PEACE CLUBS

Initiated in 2023 to complement High school-based Peace Clubs, the Community based Peace Clubs are our new way to empower and equip communities with knowledge and skills in peacebuilding and conflict resolution. The pilot community Peace Club is currently based in Kampala Central Division and has a membership of 50 community members. The initiative is implemented under the Strengthening Youth Voice and Civic action for Peacebuilding in Uganda Project and is supported by Finn Church Aid.
